Happy New Year 2009

Well, it's a new year and wonderful things are happening.

Romi met her great grandmothers in Southern California over the holiday.
Our drive down took 12 hours - newbie parents plus a chance of snow on the grapevine extended the trip. The drive back up took closer to 7. Yeah, we're pros now. Romi was a champ.

New Years was spent at Spirit House in Mill Valley with friends. Romi got dressed up for the occasion. It was a beautiful vacation rental with grounds for hiking and a big yurt for dancing/playing Wii. Romi was one of 12 children who enjoyed time there. The group shot is of all the babies there on New Years Day. Friends stayed over as we did or just joined for a day. About 50 people in all over the course of the week.

Matt is about to begin teaching an Anatomy & Physiology course for a Kaiser school in Richmond, so this week begins his more than full-time schedule of work. It will be a change for momma who has gotten very used to having him around a couple of mornings/afternoons a week. But, as people told us it would, things have gotten easier. While Romi doesn't have a set schedule, she is much more predictable and we are more in snyc with her needs. That makes for easier days & nights with baby.

The baby bug is cuter than ever, grasping her hands, chewing on her fingers and babbling/almost singing with her recently discovered voice. Her eyes are showing up to be olive/hazel - they amaze me.
