A New Years to Remember Part II

Romi will likely always remember this New Years.

After the traumatic two-handed grab of the hot wood-burning stove, Romi & parents are doing as well as expected.

Her right hand is doing fine - it just has a sliver of a blistery burn across the top of her palm/base of her fingers, then up the index finger.
Her left is more badly burned and there are three blisters. The biggest is on her palm below her pinky.

Today, she is frustrated because we've bandaged her up and she doesn't have the use of her left hand.
The attached photo is what it looked like this morning as we changed the dressing.

She knew "hot" before and would say and sign it.
Now, she really knows "hot."

Our little girls is doing alright, though. We'll take her to the Walk-in clinic in the morning for a check up. In the meantime, I've learned a bit about 1st aid burn care:
Apply LOTS OF COOL WATER - for like 20 minutes
DO NOT USE ICE
Don't apply ointments (right away) or home remedies, (not sure why, but) they may prevent healing.

Folks had lots of advice - it was really scary - I'm still not sure exactly what to do in the event of a burn, but we did okay and she is okay.
I hope none of you have to go through this.
